Chiropractic and Acupuncture Care

Robert Devine D.C. offers care for most musculoskeletal pains and problems by using chiropractic, therapy and/or acupuncture. Dr. Devine has thirty years of experience in treating conditions such as:
  • Neck Pain
  • Arm Pain
  • Shoulder Pain
  • Mid Back Pain
  • Low Back Pain
  • Sciatica (Leg Pain)
  • Headaches
  • Migraines
  • Disc Bulges
We treat these conditions using manipulation, flexion distraction (a form of manual traction), stretching, soft tissue techniques and instrument manipulation. The type of care depends on the condition, the age of the patient and the general health of the patient.

We also use certain types of therapies such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation and intermittent traction to speed up recovery and reduce pain. Exercises are given to strengthen and stabilize the involved area(s). Not every patient needs therapy and those that do usually only need one.

Treatment length depends on the condition being treated, the age of the patient and how long the patient has had the problem. You could receive as few as 2 or 3 treatments for a simple condition such as a stiff neck or up to 12-15 treatments for a protruding disc with leg pain.

We are providers for most insurance, including: Medicare, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, HealthLink, Coventry, United Healthcare, Mail Handlers, most union insurance plans and several more. If you have an insurance not listed above, call us to see if we are in your network.

We know that some people have no insurance, a very high deductible or a Health Savings Account. For those people, here is a list of fees for our most common procedures:
Exam (1st visit only)
Manipulation/office visit
Electrical Muscle Stimulation
Neck or Low Back Traction
X-rays (depending on number of films)
$35.00 - $50.00

We also offer Acupuncture for our patients. We may use traditional needles (which are very thin and virtually painless) or electrical point stimulation (which entails the use of a small probe and a very mild electrical current that is barely felt, if felt at all). The electrical point stimulator is used on children, auriculotherapy (ear acupuncture) and those patients who may be needle phobic.

The conditions treated with acupuncture are almost too numerous to name, but the most common conditions we treat are:
  • Migraines
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Anxiety/Depression
  • Joint Pains (Knees, Shoulders, Hip Pain)
  • General Headaches
  • Chronic Fatigue
  • Hot Flashes/Night Sweats
  • Neck & Back Pain
  • Insomnia
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome
  • Macular Degeneration
The number of treatments varies (again, depending on the condition, how long the patient has had the condition and the age and general health of the patient). An average case may be 3 or 4 treatments or up to 12 treatments. The typical case is 8 treatments. We sometimes suggest Chinese herbs be taken to help speed up recovery. If herbs are suggested, they are typically taken for 3-6 weeks at a cost of $40.00-$80.00. For your initial appointment please allow 45 minutes to an hour for this appointment and do not eat or drink anything at least one hour before your appointment.

We use a MEAD (Meridian Energy Analysis Device) to measure the meridians and see if they are in excess or deficient. This information allows us to determine which points to treat along the meridian. The MEAD can be affected by certain medications. We ask that if you take medications that you make your appointment earlier in the day, bring your medications with you and take your medications after we have finished the exam. This is especially true if we are evaluating you for Lyme disease, Candida (yeast) or any other chronic infection.

Also, acupuncture is almost never covered by insurance. Our fees are listed below:
